About Bioethics Society of Boston College

Bioethics Society of Boston College is an interdisciplinary group established in 2018 for the students of Boston College to explore emerging topics in the field of bioethics. The club hosts experts from various fields including medicine, philosophy, law, and theology. Bioethics Society of Boston College provides a forum for students to consider complex issues and engage in stimulating conversations.

Why Ethics?

Ethical problem solving skills are essential in every discipline. The students of Boston College have the unique advantage of being well versed in philosophy and theology as liberal arts students. Bioethics Society of Boston College will offer students the opportunity to apply this knowledge to some of the most challenging moral issues confronting society.

What is Bioethics?

Bioethics is the application of ethical principles to science, including healthcare and research.

Trending topics in Bioethics

Trending topics in Bioethics include gene editing, traumatic brain injuries and consciousness, religion in medical decision making and providing healthcare to undocumented immigrants. In addition, we examine artificial intelligence in medicine and research, climate change, stem cell research, racial disparities in research, xenotransplantation, transplantation and resource allocation and clinical health data ownership.
